There, Empire City towered before them, stretching as far as the eye could see, from left to right, above and below. Eden craned his neck and saw no end to it.
Light sparkled everywhere, escaping through thousands of breaks in the stone, exposing an endless maze of streets and narrow alleys spreading across hundreds of levels. Some alleys plunged as deep as canyons, others seemed mere tunnels. Brightly lit paths starkly contrasted with those shrouded in darkness, visible only as outlines. Residences with small doors and windows connected to alleys with tiny staircases. Bridges and arches led to flimsy balconies and tiny walkways.
It seemed impossible to know what had been built and what had been carved. It all belonged to the same gigantic and chaotic structure.
